North Shore Children’s Theatre (NSCT) produces full-scale musical theatre productions, workshops, and offers a summer program. We provide young performers professional training and arts education. Offering classes in musical theater, dance, acting and singing and giving children the opportunity to be a part of a professional theater production. Through the process of rehearsal and performance, actors learn about the world of performing arts while building self-confidence, respect for self and others, and working as a team toward a common goal.
NSCT was founded by Patricia Manalo Bochnak, Nicole Poirier and Andrew Harwood in the Fall of 2010 when we produced our first full-scale musical theatre production of “Beauty and the Beast” with a cast of 26 actors. Rehearsals were held at For Kids Only Afterschool Studio and then later at Tabernacle Church. We soon added large shows every Fall and Spring, a workshop in the Winter, a Summer Performing Arts Program, and a fundraiser musical revue show, “A Night at the Tony’s”! We have slowly built our children’s theatre to a large community of over 300 families and still growing! In May of 2012, we were incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and are led by a great team, our Board of Directors. In August of 2013, we opened our own studio at 302 Essex Street in Salem. NSCT staff offer workshops and outreach programs to the community and have taught at Boston Children’s Museum, For Kids Only Afterschool, and Eliot Pearson Children’s School at Tufts University. We hope to continue to share our love and passion for the performing arts with children and audiences of the North Shore for years to come!
